I feel like it was such a shitty endcap to an otherwise awesome day so I'm still trying to get my head around it. BUT hopefully those people will read it, and love it, and maybe they'll buy the next book, or leave a review

STILL, I'm trying to stay positive because the event DID move more books than any of my previous in person events COMBINED. Not that I've done a ton -- I've only done 2 book events prior to this -- but 14 books? That's a lot! I sold out of paperbacks. I have to order more!

I've notified the vendor, as this is their 2nd time hosting this event, and hopefully they'll check with other people, because missing 21% of sales is kind of pretty big. In the scope of things, they were paperbacks and they didn't cost that much to print, but it's still a big indicator of an issue.

To the right of me was Macy's. Anyone could've just picked up a stack of books and gone through Macy's with all of them. There was no way anyone would be able to track everyone with books and ensuring they were checking out with them.

See, the way the event was set up was it was in the hallways of a mall. We each had tables, but we were not allowed to make sales at our tables. People had to go to a designated register area to check out with the titles they wanted. One was right in front of me. Sometimes, lines were long.

Got home, and the remaining inventory I have does not match sales numbers, and the amount I got paid out says I moved 11 books, not 14. Which means 3 people walked off with my books. Which I knew was gonna happen.

Posting what I just posted on Imgur. Because it's always good to be transparent about the reality of what it looks like in the business of art and writing. Saturday I had an awesome book event. I sold 14 books, by my tally. Met a lot of people. Made new friends. Dressed like a robot.
